18CM X 23CM
“A rainy winter day in the Wicklow Mountains, in soothing tones, hand-quilted in white cotton thread. Taking scraps of fabric and using the skills of my hands and the visions in my heart to turn them into something beautiful feels like real magic, or alchemy.” - Lisa
Materials
Various light- and medium-weight woven cottons; including pieces recovered from duvet covers, leftovers from pandemic mask-making (recycled, natural)
Batting (the soft insulating layer) is 100% cotton (new, natural)
Cotton threads for sewing & quilting (new, natural)
Wire hanger (recycled)
Techniques
Patchwork - the cutting and piecing of various fabrics and/or colours to create a pattern or image, mostly using scraps and offcuts.
Hand-quilting - using a needle and thread to sew through all three layers of a quilt, in lines or motifs
Hand-stitched binding - using a needle and thread to finish the binding around the edges by hand
Designed, cut, and sewn in Dublin
Use & Care
Tiny Quilts are neither insulated nor waterproof, and should not be used as a placemat or coaster to protect surfaces from heat or damp.
Avoid hanging in direct sunlight as this causes the colours to fade and the fibres to become fragile.
If you have a special image, motif, shape, or scene in mind, you can commission a Tiny Quilt or wall-hangings and quilts of any size. Click here to check out my Commissions page.
