This jacket combines freestyle nine-patch patchwork with quality new Irish linen. It is a cropped jacket with full length cuffed sleeves, and looks great with high-waisted jeans or over a dress. It has an easy-fitting versatile shape, with subtle femme shaping on the front. The yoke and back panel are lightly padded and hand-quilted with contrast cotton thread, and there are two side pockets and two small inside pockets. Jacket #1 integrates my vision of combining locally sourced new and repurposed fabrics to make beautiful and utilitarian pieces right here in Ireland. - Lisa

Materials

• Linen from Emblem Weavers (locally sourced new, natural)

• A selection of woven cottons from remnants (repurposed, natural)

• Batting (the soft insulating layer) is cotton (new, natural)

• Metal stud buttons (new)

Techniques

• Patchwork - the cutting and piecing of various fabrics and/or colours to create a pattern or image

• Hand-quilting - using a needle and thread to sew through multiple layers of fabric and batting (padding)

• Designed, cut, and sewn in Dublin as a one-off

Use & Care

Linen is a natural fibre, and as such, often has slight variations in surface texture or slubs. Washing is tough on clothing, so wash only when necessary. That being said, this jacket is machine washable! Please wash at 30°, on its own or with similar colours, and air dry. To protect the metal buttons, wash in a laundry net or bag. It can be ironed or steamed.
