Lonely Planet: Best In Travel 2027

Each year, Lonely Planet publishes its travel recommendations for the coming year in the annual Best In Travel book. For the 2027 edition, published in September, I was honoured to contribute one of their 25 best experiences.

世界的な旅行ガイド出版社ロンリープラネットの「Best in Travel 2027」の「2027年に行くべき世界の２５選とするべき体験の２５選」に、MCTが体験として選ばれました。私は「2027年にするべき体験の２５選」の一つとしてMCTについて記事をお書きいたしました。

Trek the Michinoku Coastal Trail

私はMCTAの皆さま、沿線各地で道を守り、ハイカーたちを迎えてきた地域の皆さまの取組に感謝いたします。

数年前からトレイルを歩きたかったでした。いよいよ去年９月に名取トレイルセンターを訪れておりました。優しいセンターのチームメンバーからさまざまな話や助言をもらいました。一週間の間に岩手県宮古市から青森県八戸までしまで冒険しました。

ロンリープラネットの「Best in Travel 2027」のせいMCTについて記事を書く招待された事は大変な名誉でした。東北地方を旅先に表すのも大名誉でした。私の二十年代の時に山形県に住んでいました。残念ながら「Best in Travel 2027」は英語しか発刊されていると思います。

I would like to express my gratitude to the members of the Michinoku Coastal Trail Association (MCTA), as well as to the locals along the route who work to maintain the trails and welcome hikers.

I had long dreamed of walking at least part of this trail, and last September, I finally arrived at the Natori Trail Center in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. The friendly staff there were all chat and advice about the trail. Over the following week, I had an adventure that took me from Miyako City in Iwate Prefecture all the way to Hachinohe in Aomori Prefecture, joined by a friend halfway.

It was a privilege to be invited to write about the MCT for Lonely Planet and a true honour to help showcase the Tohoku region as a travel destination, having lived in Yamagata for some years.
